Some recent work

I havent posted anything in a while but happy to finally get a chance to put some recent work up! i hope you enjoy and any feed back is greatly appreciated!

This painting i struggled with alot and for the fist two hours i had a pretty decent painting rendered and then felt it was just off and not very representational of what i saw in front of me. So i erased it and moved my position and this was the result of the last two and half hours.

Did this painting a couple weeks back for a show but wasn't able to get it in since it was not dry in tim.e. It took about an hour and a half give or take

Drew my mom for the first time it was fun going back into drawing with black and white charcoal. i've really missed the way the charcoal feels on this kind of paper. Its canson ingres steel gray. Just Generals Charcoal. on an 18x24" paper and the pose was for 1:45 min.

Heres a drawing i did a week prior of my little sister in about 25 min. Same kind of paper as the one above as well

Portraits and Quick Study

Portrait of Samantha. Really loving this process of slowly observing and hatching with the paint to create form and volume. I only had a brief moment to paint sam from life but would like to take this same approach with future models I get to work with. (Samantha 2011 Oil on Panel)

This was a two day painting I did from life from natural light. I learned the downfall of having to deal with the first day being sunny and nice out, then the next day being cloudy and no sun. So I scraped some paint off and quickly started laying down cooler tones. (Self Portrait 2011 Oil on Panel)

A bust I sculpted my junior year I have yet to cast it. Its done in Roma Plastillina!
